A truly inspiring guest, Syd Guntharp, recently graduated from the University of Mississippi as a Rhodes Scholar finalist. Now a PhD student at UNC-Chapel Hill, Syd is an accomplished scholar, poet, and classically trained musician. Syd co-founded the CORRE Collective, which stands for "Creatives Organizing Radical Revolutionary Expression." They're working to build community through “creative resistance.” In this episode, we talk about the stormy night that CORRE was first conceived, the importance of finding spaces where queer and trans people can finally breathe in the South and Syd’s belief that imagination and joy are powerful tools against oppression.
